Mobile surfing

I’ve been looking for a new mobile phone and have now gotten one. I was looking for a smart phone so I could have mail, calender and surfing in one device. The device I got is a QTEK 9100. After using the device for a few days I must say that I’m really impressed. Right now I’m writing this post with the phone. It has a quite nice QWERTY keyboard. The system is Windows Mobile 5 so I have access to Word, Explorer, Outlook, RSS Reader and Opera etc. As I’m writing this I am laying in my coach and using my home wifi network. The phone is WLAN 802.11B capable which makes is great for surfing. I was today in Stockholm city and sitting at a coffee shop. I checked to see if I could find any networks. Found five right away, two networks was open so I could surf some and check my mail.

I will try to report any other great findings with this phone. It is great to see how sites render and how important it is with anchor links to different parts of the page. It is also nice when the sites have a high contrast version with large text, one column and visible skip links. Something I now feel that I have to fix for my site.

  1. Nice, using the phone to surf on the Internet and to doing other stuff is truly the next thing. It takes over many things from the laptop industry, I think.

I am currently looking forward to Sony Ericssons P990 and Nokia N73 (with Mini Map). I’m not sure witch one I will choose.

  2. true. it’s really nice to be able to surf without needing to carry a heavy laptop. for easy surfing, reading mails and RSS this is great.
