Information junkie

I wonder if I have turned into a information junkie? If looking in my feed reader (Sage) I have roughly 80 bookmarks. That is quite a lot to read. Many do not write every day but with this number it gets quite much to keep up with. I also notice the more I read the less I write, it’s like everything is already written, why should I write the same thing?

So do you think that I need to go to AI (anonymous infoholics)? How about you? How many feeds do you try to stay updated with?

New design

When I moved to the 2.0 version of WordPress my templates somehow broke. Instead of fixing the templates I thought new ones would be nice. I continue to play with large typography. This time I tried to use only one primary color and I think it works quite nicely. The site now uses a semi flexible layout with a wrapper in ems. The layout has max-width of 100% so it won’t make any horizontal scrollbars. To fix this for IE I am trying out the minmax javascript, Thanks Andrew.

Instead of using the WordPress default ‘categories’ I am now trying out ‘tags’ to see how it works for navigation.

There is now some del.icio.us love at the bottom of the page, both mine and others, nice to see what people tag.

I have also decided to only write about web developing, so no more private things, technical stuff and photography.

Let me know if there is any problem in your browser.

Going to @media 2006

Me and a colleague (Swedish) have the luck to go to London and @media 2006 this year. Happy, happy, joy, joy. This is really great. I am so excited to listen to Andy Budd, Dan Cederholm, Tantek Çelik, Robin Christopherson and Andy Clarke. I hope to meet and discuss with Patrick Griffiths, Jon Hicks and Molly E. Holzschlag. Have a beer or two with Roger Johansson, Jeremy Keith, Peter-Paul Koch and Stuart Langridge. Have a laugh with Patrick H. Lauke, Gez Lemon, Ian Lloyd, Eric Meyer, Cameron Moll and Veerle Pieters. And maybe just say ‘hi’ to Dave Shea and Simon Willison. Hopefully we will meet other interesting and nice people when we are there.

3D web browsing

I had a quick look at the 3D browser uBrowser that was recently released. More fun than functional. The movie I made do only show the OpenGL result and not the browser interface, have a look at their homepage for screenshoots.

uBrowser is an simple Web Browser that illustrates one way of embedding the Mozilla® Gecko rendering engine into a standalone application using LibXUL. In this case, the contents of the page is grabbed as it’s being rendered and displayed as a texture on some geometry using OpenGL™. You are able to interact with the page (mostly) normally and visit (almost) any site that works correctly with Firefox® 1.5.

I made a quick flash movie (5MB) how it looks.
